Farmer`s Corner
One of the main goals of the PARASOL Project is to disseminate the knowledge obtained from the research to farmers, advisors and veterinary practitioners.
There are 10 different countries involved in the PARASOL project, from both the EU and Africa. Farming conditions vary widely between the different countries, for example in agriculture, animal husbandry and infrastructure. One of the aims of the Parasol project is to find regionally appropriate methods to reduce the rate of development of anthelmintic resistance
Researchers in South Africa, the United Kingdom and Morocco have prepared information leaflets in order to disseminate the knowledge gained during the project and educate farmers on the special diagnostic and treatment methods available (to view the information, click on the country of interest).

Community Visits
After a fruitful steering committee meeting of the PARASOL-partners near East London, South Africa (March 03. – March 06.2008), the young scientists of the team seized the opportunity and left the meeting point in order to visit some farms for about one week together with some advisors from the National Wool Grower`s association. The visited farms and their animals are involved in the PARSAOL Project.
The young scientists were integrated into community life and could experience how the farm animals were treated and assessed according to the PARASOL guidelines.
This experience was quite an adventure for the European scientists. In the following you can read all about it in the reports of Fiona Kenyon and Andy Greer in Xhosa, Johannes Charlier in Bolotwa, James D. Kenworthy and Laura Mezzino in Saphukanduku and David Bartley and Janina Demeler in I Dudja.
